What is AdBlue®

The term AdBlue® is a worldwide trademark of the German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA) relating to Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) produced in accordance with the ISO 22241 specifications.

AdBlue® is a revolutionary diesel exhaust fluid (DEF), also known as AUS 32, specifically designed to combat the environmental impact of diesel engines. AdBlue® is an aqueous urea solution comprised of 32.5% urea and 67.5% deionized water. By employing Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) technology, it effectively mitigates the concentration of harmful Nitrogen Oxides (NOx) present in diesel exhaust emissions.

It’s important to note that AdBlue® is not a fuel or fuel additive; rather, it operates in conjunction with the exhaust gases after they have exited the engine. Stored separately in its dedicated tank, AdBlue® is introduced into the exhaust stream in measured quantities through a specialized inlet. Within the catalytic converter, it interacts with nitrogen oxide in the exhaust gases, transforming them into benign elements—nitrogen and water

Bulk AdBlue® to your tank

  • To some extent AdBlue® is sensitive to extreme temperatures, both hot and cold. The solution will freeze if its temperature falls below -11°C, and the urea content can decrease if stored at temperatures in excess of 30°C.
  • However, AdBlue® is not harmed by the freezing process and once thawed will retain its concentration and quality. In areas where the temperature is frequently in excess of 30°C it is necessary to ensure that the solution is not stored in direct sunlight.

Important Information

  • AdBlue® is not a fuel additive. Therefore, it requires a separate dedicated tank.
  • In the event of accidental AdBlue® placement in the fuel tank, do not start the engine and seek assistance from a professional garage.
  • Only fill the AdBlue® tank with AdBlue®; avoid introducing any other liquids.
  • Prevent any form of contamination from compromising the quality of AdBlue®.
  • Should small quantities of AdBlue® come into contact with the vehicle’s paintwork, promptly wipe them off and rinse the affected area with water if necessary.
